Angela Lee’s Daughter Starts Martial Arts Training at Just Two Years Old

Angela Lee’s two-year-old daughter, Ava Marie, has already begun her martial arts training. Despite Angela’s retirement from mixed martial arts, her daughter is following in her footsteps at a very young age. Angela shared this exciting news in an interview with The Aloha Hour, where she revealed that Ava Marie is one of the youngest participants in the classes conducted by Angela and her husband, Bruno Pucci, at their gym, United BJJ Hawaii.

In the interview, Angela mentioned that they have a THOTS (The High Order Thinking Skills) class for children aged three and above. This class serves as a basic introduction to martial arts, teaching kids essential skills like listening, sitting down, and breaking falls. Angela proudly stated, ‘She’s the youngest, but she does really well. Learning how to break a fall is crucial, especially when she’s playing at the playground and accidentally falls down.’

Angela Lee retired from her successful career in mixed martial arts at the age of 27. Before her retirement, she held the ONE women’s atomweight MMA world title since 2016 and defended it five times. In September, she announced her decision to step away from the sport and focus on the next chapter of her life.

Apart from being a dedicated mother and wife, Angela is also devoting her time to her newly formed nonprofit organization, Fightstory. This project aims to support individuals struggling with mental health, drawing from Angela’s personal experiences. Even before her retirement, Angela took a break from fighting to mourn the loss of her younger sister, Victoria, who tragically took her own life at the age of 18. Fightstory was established as a tribute to Victoria’s memory.

Angela Lee’s journey in martial arts has now extended to her daughter, Ava Marie. It’s heartwarming to see the next generation embracing the sport and learning valuable skills from an early age. With Angela’s guidance and the supportive environment at United BJJ Hawaii, Ava Marie is sure to thrive in her martial arts journey. Who knows, we might witness another talented fighter emerge from the Lee family in the future!
