With two indoor courts and four outdoor courts with floodlights, it has hosted countless coaching sessions, tournaments, and even private hire and holiday clubs.

Now, let’s talk about the anniversary celebrations. On Sunday, October 22, the centre held a morning of Fast4 Tennis double tournaments exclusively for its members. Sixteen members battled it out in back-to-back games, and let me tell you, the competition was fierce! After the intense matches, the winners of the main tournament were Andrew Kirkham and Evelyn Kirkham, while Adam Gorst and Hannah Kennedy took the runner-up spot. Aled Roberts and Tania Dupre claimed victory in the plate tournament, with Leon Davies and Mena Hitchings as the runners-up.

Cllr Aaron Wynne, the Conwy County Borough Council Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure, expressed his pride in the role the James Alexander Barr Tennis Centre has played in the development of tennis in the region over the past two decades. He highlighted how the centre’s fantastic facilities cater to all ages and abilities, from beginners to seasoned tennis enthusiasts. Providing sporting opportunities at all levels and encouraging an active lifestyle is a top priority for the council.

After the tournaments, cllr Abdul Khan, a club member and local representative on the Conwy County Borough Council, presented the winners with well-deserved medals and trophies. Cllr Khan was thrilled to see everyone enjoying a wonderful morning of tennis and congratulated all the participants. He also expressed excitement for the future of the centre and encouraged everyone to come and play a racquet sport.

Now, here’s the best part: the Tennis Centre facilities are open to the general public! You can book ‘Pay & Play’ sessions of tennis or badminton throughout the week. How cool is that? So, if you’re looking for some fun and active time, head over to the Tennis Centre and get your game on!
