Dan Carter, the former New Zealand fly-half and self-proclaimed ‘golf tragic’, is excited about a new program aimed at increasing golf participation for people with disabilities in Ireland. Carter was in Dublin this week to launch a partnership between Golf Ireland and ISPS Handa. As an ambassador for ISPS Handa, Carter believes that the values of the organization align perfectly with Golf Ireland’s goal of making golf accessible to all. The partnership will see ISPS Handa sponsor the Irish Open for Golfers with a Disability in 2024 and become the lead partner of Golf Ireland’s Golf4All programs. Carter, who is passionate about golf, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership and his desire to see golf thrive in Ireland. He jokingly admitted that he thinks he’s a better golfer than he actually is and promised to bring his golf clubs on his next visit to Ireland. Brendan Lawlor, another ambassador for ISPS Handa, praised Golf Ireland for their commitment to disability golf and their efforts to make the game more inclusive. The partnership aims to provide opportunities for disability golfers at all levels and to encourage people from all walks of life to take up the game. With Golf Ireland leading the way in disability golf, the future looks bright for the sport in Ireland.
