England Women’s Under-19 Squad Announced for EURO Qualifiers

The England women’s under-19 squad has been named for the upcoming EURO qualifiers. The Young Lionesses, led by head coach Amy Merricks, will be facing Greece, Wales, and Czechia in the UEFA European Women’s Under-19 Championship qualifiers. The tournament will take place in Lithuania next summer. The squad consists of 20 talented players who are eager to secure a spot in the finals.

The England WU19s had a strong start to their season in September, with an impressive 5-0 victory over Denmark and an exciting 3-3 draw with Germany. They will be looking to build on this momentum as they compete for a place in next summer’s championships in Wales.

The first match for the Young Lionesses will be against Greece on Tuesday, October 24th, at the Cardiff International Sports Campus. This will be followed by a match against Wales on Friday, October 27th, at Dragon Park, Wales National Football Centre. The final match of the qualifiers will be against Czechia on Monday, October 30th, at the Cardiff International Sports Campus.

The squad is made up of talented players from various clubs. The goalkeepers are Eve Annets from Reading and Katie Cox from Chelsea. The defenders include Ria Bose and Cerys Brown from Chelsea, Lois Marley-Paraskevas from Manchester City (dual registered with Burnley), Lucy Newell from Manchester United (dual registered with West Bromwich Albion), Evie Rabjohn from Manchester United, Katie Reid from Arsenal (dual registered with Watford), and Mari Ward from Bristol City.

The midfielders in the squad are Ashanti Akpan from Chelsea, Jemima Dahou from Manchester City (dual registered with Blackburn Rovers), Maddy Earl from Arsenal, Shauna Guyatt from Crystal Palace, and Alexia Potter from Chelsea (dual registered with Crystal Palace). The forwards include Ava Baker from Leicester City, Mia Enderby from Liverpool, Freya Godfrey from Arsenal (on loan to Charlton Athletic), Georgia Mullett from Aston Villa, Poppy Pritchard from Durham, and Katy Watson from Sunderland.
