Exciting News for Football Fans in Northampton

Calling all football fans in Northampton! Get ready for some exciting news. A brand new all-weather five-a-side community football pitch is about to open at Northampton Town Football Club. This game-changing pitch will officially open on Saturday, November 11, just in time for the Cobblers’ home game against Burton Albion.

The installation work for this amazing pitch has been going on for the past few months. The plans were approved by West Northamptonshire Council in July, and since then, the team has been working hard to make it a reality.

But here’s the best part – this pitch is not just for the football club. It’s for the entire community! The club won the prestigious ‘More Than Football Award’ last year, and this pitch is their well-deserved prize. The award recognizes the best social initiatives in Europe, and the Cobblers’ Tackling Loneliness project was voted as the best social initiative.

The CEO of the Northampton Town Community Trust, Phill Smith, is thrilled about the new pitch. He said, ‘It will be a game-changer for us. We’ll have extra space and something new to offer, like walking football. We want it to be a community asset, and with floodlights, it can be used all year round.’

The chairman of the club, Kelvin Thomas, is equally excited. He said, ‘The new five-a-side pitch will be fantastic. It’s a testament to what we do as a club, and it will be a big community asset. I can’t wait to see youngsters playing on it during the week and on matchdays. It’s a real tribute to the work we do in the community of Northamptonshire.’

The pitch, measuring 60 x 120 feet, comes with a guarantee of at least 10 years. On match days, it will be available to young fans who want to celebrate their birthday at the stadium or participate in match day experience packages. On non-match days, people from all backgrounds and age groups can use the pitch.

So, mark your calendars for November 11 and get ready to witness the opening of this incredible community football pitch. It’s going to be a game-changer for Northampton, bringing the community together and providing a space for everyone to enjoy the beautiful game of football.
