Hey Scottish rugby fans, we’ve got some exciting news for you! As Edinburgh Rugby and Glasgow Warriors gear up for their first external URC warm-up games this weekend, guess what? Eleven of the talented Scottish Rugby FOSROC Academy players have been selected to join the matchday squads for both teams. How awesome is that?
To give these young players the support they need, the FOSROC Super Series Championship match between Boroughmuir Bears and the FOSROC Future XV, which was supposed to take place this Friday at Meggetland, has been postponed. Don’t worry though, it will be rescheduled for a later date.
Now, you might be wondering why these young guns got the chance to shine. Well, it’s because some of the Edinburgh Rugby and Glasgow Warriors players are currently in France, supporting the National Team RWC selection. And since it’s pre-season, both teams have decided to announce a larger squad than the usual 23 players for their friendly matches.
Let’s talk about the games. Edinburgh Rugby will be facing off against Connacht at Hive Stadium on Friday evening. It’s going to be a thrilling match, and guess what? Fans are allowed back in the stadium! So, if you’re lucky enough to have a ticket, get ready to cheer on your team.
As for the Glasgow Warriors, they’ll be taking on Zebre Parma at Scotstoun on Saturday. It’s going to be an epic showdown, and the Warriors are pumped to have their fans back in the stands. The atmosphere is going to be electric!
Jim Mallinder, Scottish Rugby’s Performance Director, couldn’t be prouder of these young players. He said, “These talented individuals have proven themselves in the FOSROC Future XV matches and have been working hard in the professional setups. They truly deserve this opportunity to play at the highest level of rugby in Scotland. It’s amazing to see how many players from the FOSROC Super Series have gone on to play professionally for Glasgow Warriors or Edinburgh Rugby. These eleven FOSROC Academy players are following in the footsteps of many others before them. Let’s wish them the best of luck this weekend!”
So, there you have it, folks. Exciting times ahead for Scottish rugby as these young stars get their chance to shine. Let’s show our support and cheer them on as they take the field. Go Edinburgh! Go Glasgow Warriors! Let’s make this weekend one to remember!
