Gabriel Jesus has suffered a possible hamstring strain after coming off during Arsenal’s 2-1 win against Sevilla on Tuesday. The Brazil international has struggled with injuries throughout his time at the Emirates Stadium.
Jesus missed the start of the 2023/24 campaign with a knee issue – a reoccurence of the injury he sustained at the World Cup last year. The 25-year-old was withdrawn against Sevilla after two pieces of individual brilliance saw him setup Gabriel Martinelli to score the opening goal in the dying embers of the first half.
Jesus then took things into his own hands just minutes after the break, beating several players before curling home the second goal of the night. With that said, here’s a look at the latest on his injury and how it is developing.
Scan scheduled
Jesus was sent for a scan on Thursday with Arsenal facing an anxious wait over the next 24 hours to get the results. Mikel Arteta is set to speak to the media on Friday ahead of the Gunners’ Premier League clash with Sheffield United – in which an update on the Brazil international is expected.

New message
Gabriel Jesus has now sent a new message to fans after winning player of the match in the tie with Sevilla on Tuesday night. Speaking on social media, he said: “Hello, Gooners! I’m here with the player of the match trophy, thank you for your support you helped us a lot.
“A nice, good and important win tonight against Sevilla. So, thank you and let’s go!”
Gabriel Jesus breaks silence
While Mikel Arteta expressed his concern for Gabriel Jesus and a possible injury, the striker seemed to dismiss any talk of his concern being a serious one. He told TNT Sports: “I felt something. Let’s see. I did some tests with the physio, it looks not that big, but let’s see. I have a scan, maybe tomorrow. I’m pretty sure it will be nothing.”
Mikel Arteta update
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has given an update on the fitness of striker Gabriel Jesus after he was substituted against Sevilla with an injury concern. He told the media: “Really sad because he felt something in his hamstring and I’m worried about that.”
