Highland Rugby Club’s Offensive Strategy for National One Promotion

Title-chasing Highland have been working hard to improve their attacking play and try-scoring in order to earn more bonus points. Head coach Dave Carson has shifted the team’s focus to their offensive game ahead of their upcoming match against Glasgow Academicals. Although Storm Babet denied Highland a top of the table clash against Ayr, the team has used the unexpected break to regroup and refocus after a thrilling last-minute victory against Gala. Carson acknowledges that their defense is the best in the league, but they need to score more tries to close the six-point gap on Ayr. The team is determined to start picking up more bonus points, starting with their home game on Saturday.

Glasgow Accies, the National Two champions from last season, have made a strong start in the higher division with five wins and two defeats. Carson praises their performance and points out that they have a better points difference and have earned more bonus points than Highland. He expects a tough match against Glasgow Accies, who have a talented set of backs and a strong attacking style of play.

Carson believes that the postponement of the Ayr trip may have long-term benefits for the team. It has allowed some squad members to rest and recover from injuries. He is particularly pleased that tighthead prop Stuart Watson, who was initially unavailable due to a neck injury, may now be able to play.

Overall, Highland Rugby Club is determined to improve their offensive game and earn more bonus points to close the gap on the league leaders. They are prepared for a challenging match against Glasgow Accies and are hopeful that the postponement of the Ayr trip will work in their favor.
