Ilkay Gundogan has left an indelible mark on Manchester City during his seven-year tenure at the club. To commemorate his outstanding contributions, a special mosaic has been installed at the City Football Academy, paying tribute to his memorable goal against Aston Villa in 2022. Gundogan, who became the first City captain to lift the UEFA Champions League trophy, also achieved great success on the domestic front, winning five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, and four League Cups. His time in England concluded in spectacular fashion, with a memorable brace in the FA Cup final at Wembley, followed by a historic Treble triumph in Istanbul. The mosaic, created by local Manchester sculptor Mark Kennedy, joins a series of tributes to other City legends such as Vincent Kompany, Sergio Aguero, and David Silva. Manchester City Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak expressed his gratitude and admiration for Gundogan’s contributions, highlighting his leadership qualities both on and off the pitch. The mosaic serves as a lasting reminder of Gundogan’s significant impact on the club’s history and is a token of appreciation for his remarkable achievements.
