Louisville Welcomes World Taekwondo Championship

Hey there! So, guess what? Louisville, Kentucky is hosting the World Taekwondo Championship! How cool is that? Inside the Kentucky International Convention Center, there’s this awesome 12-year-old kid named Carter Martin III who makes breaking boards look like a piece of cake. He says it hurts sometimes, but the excitement he feels when he breaks a board is totally worth it. And get this, he’s breaking boards almost every day! Talk about dedication, right?

Carter is part of the Hwang’s Martial Arts Swat team, and let me tell you, these guys are no joke. They travel all around the world to compete in Taekwondo tournaments. They even perform these super cool choreographed routines to show off their martial arts skills. It’s like a dance, but with kicks and punches. Carter says it’s super fun, and I can totally see why.

Now, here’s the really cool part. The team came to Louisville to compete against teams from all over the place. We’re talking competitors from South Korea, Peru, California, and even Alaska! That’s a whole lot of talent in one place, if you ask me.

Mimi Hwang, the Director of Operations for Hwang Martial Arts, says they have over 750 individuals participating in the championship. And get this, they range from three years old to adults. Can you believe it? It’s amazing to see people of all ages coming together to appreciate the art of martial arts.

But wait, there’s more! Carter’s whole family is into taekwondo too. His dad, Carter Martin Jr., says that by signing up his kids, he ended up getting signed up himself. Now, they’re all a part of this awesome martial arts journey together. How cool is that?

Carter has big dreams for his future in taekwondo. He wants to continue his training and become a grand master. That’s some serious dedication right there. I have no doubt that he’ll achieve his goals.

By the way, did you know that Hwang’s Taekwondo Martial Art has three locations in Kentucky? If you’re ever in the area, you should definitely check them out. Who knows, maybe you’ll be the next taekwondo superstar!

So, there you have it. Louisville is buzzing with excitement as it hosts the World Taekwondo Championship. It’s a celebration of skill, dedication, and the love for martial arts. I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling inspired. Maybe it’s time to sign up for some taekwondo classes myself. What do you think?
