Malachi Moreno Thrilled About Syracuse Basketball Offer

Syracuse basketball just offered a scholarship to Malachi Moreno, a talented center from Georgetown (KY) Great Crossing. Standing at 6-11 and weighing 200 pounds, Moreno is considered a four-star prospect by all the major recruiting services. He’s even ranked as high as 26th by On3. When asked about the offer, Moreno expressed his excitement, saying, ‘When I got that, I was ecstatic.’ Moreno’s admiration for Syracuse goes beyond basketball. He mentioned being a fan of the team since he was young and expressed his amazement at being on their radar. While he hopes to visit the campus soon, his high school season might make it challenging to schedule a trip. However, he plans to make the visit in the spring. Syracuse head coach Adrian Autry spoke with Moreno after the offer was extended and discussed the team’s plans to switch from a 2-3 zone to a man-to-man defense. Moreno, known for his versatility, is seen as a key piece in this transition. Although he hasn’t made a decision yet, Moreno knows what he’s looking for in a college. He values the coaching staff, team camaraderie, and the school’s environment. He also wants to grow closer to God, his teammates, and his coaches. In addition to Syracuse, Moreno has received offers from schools like Alabama, Arkansas, Creighton, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, LSU, Michigan, Missouri, NC State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Providence, Purdue, Tennessee, USC, and Virginia Tech. Many of these schools are actively pursuing him, with even Kentucky showing interest. During the past AAU season, Moreno averaged 14.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game for Indiana Elite AAU.
