Hey there, hockey fans! I’ve got some exciting news for you. Noémie Marin, a talented player from Acton Vale, Quebec, has been selected as the fourth member of the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) women’s hockey program’s 25th Anniversary Team. Let’s dive into her impressive career and contributions to the team.
Marin, a forward, made her mark on UMD with an outstanding performance on the ice. She currently holds the ninth spot in career scoring at UMD, with an impressive 168 points in just 126 games. Not only that, but she also ranks fifth all-time with 91 goals. Talk about a scoring machine!
Marin’s skills didn’t go unnoticed. She was named a Top-10 Patty Kazmaier Finalist not once, but twice, in the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons. In 2007, she was recognized as a USCHO Third Team All-American. Marin’s talent and dedication earned her three All-Western Collegiate Hockey Association selections, including a spot on the All-WCHA First Team in the 2006-07 season.
But Marin wasn’t just a star on the ice. She excelled academically as well. She was named a WCHA Scholar Athlete in her first two seasons and was a three-time WCHA All-Academic member. It’s impressive to see someone thrive both on and off the ice!
During her time at UMD, Marin showcased her skills in the NCAA Tournament. In just five postseason appearances, she contributed six points, including two goals and four assists. Her performance was crucial in UMD’s 2007 NCAA National Runner-Up finish. Marin’s game-winning assist in the quarterfinal clash against Mercyhurst and her assist on the game-winning goal in the double-overtime thriller against Boston College in the Frozen Four semifinal will forever be remembered.
Now, let’s talk about the 25th Anniversary Team. This incredible team was selected by local media members and hockey historians. Each member of the selection committee chose a total of 25 players, including six starting players who represent the best of the best in Bulldog history. The team will be unveiled throughout the regular season, with the starting lineup announced in the last week.
Noémie Marin’s selection to the 25th Anniversary Team is well-deserved. Her skills, achievements, and contributions to UMD women’s hockey make her a true star. Congratulations, Noémie, and thank you for the incredible memories!
