The Incredible Transformation of Marcelo Rios: From Tennis Star to Unrecognisable Bad Boy

Marcelo Rios, the ex-tennis world number one and former friend of Diego Maradona, has undergone a remarkable transformation since his retirement. The Chilean player, known for his colorful personality, has completely changed his appearance and physique over the past 20 years. Standing at just 5ft9in, Rios holds the record for being the shortest person to hold the title of world number one. However, it’s not just his height that sets him apart. Rios made headlines both on and off the court for his controversial behavior. From punching a taxi driver in Rome to urinating on men and swimming naked in a hotel pool, he was no stranger to trouble. Despite his antics, Rios remained a fan favorite. In 2018, he was fined by the ITF for his colorful language towards journalists, quoting his personal friend Diego Maradona. But it’s not just his behavior that has changed. Rios has also undergone cosmetic surgeries and adorned his body with tattoos. In an interview, he revealed that he had fixed his damaged forehead and eyelid, which had caused him sleepless nights. He now follows a bodybuilder’s lifestyle, spending hours in the gym every day. His dedication has paid off, as he has bulked up to over 100kg, a significant increase from his playing weight of 73kg. At the age of 47, Rios now resides in Miami and has opened up about his diagnosis of Asperger’s in 2014. Despite his transformation, Rios remains a legend in the tennis world, remembered for his talent and his larger-than-life personality.
