Photographer Sol Neelman has found joy in capturing moments of people celebrating in the world of weird sports. His career took a turn when he stumbled upon a roller derby game in 2005, sparking his interest in unusual sports. From there, he began photographing a variety of strange sports around the world, including underwater hockey and Barbie Jeep downhill racing. One of the weirdest sports he encountered was Pig N’ Fords, where drivers race stripped-down Ford Model T automobiles while carrying a pig under their arm. Neelman’s passion for documenting weird sports stems from the authenticity and fun he finds in these events, where participants are not driven by money or rewards, but by the sheer joy of being active and having a good time. Through his photography, Neelman captures the inner child in all of us and reminds us of the simple pleasure of laughter and storytelling.
