The University of Hawai’i women’s golf team wrapped up their performance at the 26th Rainbow Wahine Invitational with a ninth-place finish. The tournament took place at the Kapolei Golf Club in KAPOLEI, O’ahu. Baylor dominated the competition and secured the team title for the second time in three years. New Mexico State and UC Davis tied for second place. The Rainbow Wahine had a solid final round, shooting 292, to finish with a total score of 884.
The individual title was shared by Davina Xanh of Cal State Fullerton and Rosie Belsham from Baylor. Both players finished the tournament at an impressive 7-under 209. Xanh had an outstanding performance, shooting a 7-under 65 in the final round.
Focus Jonglikit, a key player for UH, concluded her Rainbow Wahine career with a tie for 15th place at even par 216. Jonglikit, originally from Thailand, competed in 14 tournaments over three seasons after transferring from Kent State. Wendy Song also had a strong showing, finishing in a tie for 27th place at 4-over 220. Emiko Sverduk had her best round of the tournament, shooting 1-over 73, to finish in a tie for 37th place. Jordyn Parr and Kellie Yamane finished tied for 57th and 66th place, respectively.
In addition to the team competition, two individuals from UH participated in the tournament. Sofina Firouzi finished tied for 63rd place with a score of 229, while Monica Johnson finished tied for 79th place with a score of 238.
The Rainbow Wahine’s fall season comes to a close with the conclusion of the Rainbow Wahine Invitational. They will kick off their spring season on February 5-6 at The Beach Invitational in Seal Beach, Calif.
