Vale FC: A Remarkable Journey of Triumph in Pan-Disability Football

Vale FC, a pan-disability football team from Bonhill, has achieved an incredible feat by securing a historic treble. Founded in 2012 by Alan Skelton, Connor McFall, and Cameron Bonner during their time at the Vale of Leven Academy, the team has grown from strength to strength over the past decade. Their recent triumph includes winning the Scottish Pan-Disability Premiership, Pan-Scottish Cup, and Spartans Connections Cup.

Alan, the proud coach, expressed their main objective was always to win the league. Despite winning numerous trophies, the league title remained their primary focus. He described their achievement as remarkable, considering they were five points behind St James’ after a game in June. However, the team rallied together and went on an impressive winning streak, ultimately securing a five-point lead in the final games.

The team’s success can be attributed to their outstanding defensive record, having only conceded eight or nine goals throughout the season. Their attacking prowess was equally impressive, with approximately 70 goals scored. These statistics have undoubtedly set new records in the league.

Vale FC’s unique model, which allows players to progress from their pan-disability sides to the first team in the Glasgow Community and Co-Operative Football League, has proven to be a winning formula. This was evident as players from their Flyers squad stepped up to the pan-team and contributed to their victories. The team’s triumph in the Spartans Connections Cup, a prestigious domestic tournament, further solidified their status as one of Scotland’s top teams.

Alan expressed his excitement about the team’s future prospects, including the opportunity to showcase their talent overseas. Although their plans to participate in the Belfast tournament were hindered by work commitments, they remain determined to compete in the George Best Tournament next year. This tournament attracts renowned Premier League teams such as Liverpool, Everton, and Fulham. Vale FC aims to establish themselves as formidable competitors on an international stage.

In conclusion, Vale FC’s journey of triumph in pan-disability football is a testament to their dedication, teamwork, and unwavering spirit. From humble beginnings to securing a historic treble, the team has proven that disability is not a barrier to success. Their remarkable season, record-breaking statistics, and future aspirations make them a force to be reckoned with in the footballing world.
