Who’s Heading to the Regional Golf Tournament? Find Out Here!

Hey golf fans! The district tournaments for high school golf have just wrapped up, and now it’s time to find out which teams and individual golfers are heading to the regional tournament. Let’s dive in and see who made the cut!

In District 1-1A, the boys’ tournament took place at Eagle Springs Golf Course in Defuniak Springs, while the girls’ tournament was held at Marcus Pointe Gulf Club. The top teams from this district that will be moving on to regionals are Pensacola Catholic and Northview. Pensacola Catholic dominated the competition, scoring a team total of 304 and winning their 18th District Championship in school history. The Chiefs from Northview came in third, securing their spot with a score of 362. Jay just missed out on advancing, finishing fourth with a score of 370. As for the individual golfers, Mac Gilmer from Pensacola Catholic took home the low medalist honors with an even-par 71. Ty Posey from Jay also qualified for regionals as one of the top three golfers not on a qualifying team.

In District 1-1A girls’ tournament, Pensacola Catholic had an impressive showing, winning the district title by over 70 strokes with a team score of 312. All five of their golfers placed within the top 10 of the tournament. Northview finished second, securing their spot in regionals with a score of 386. Holmes County claimed the third team spot with a score of 405. Anna Kunkel from Northview had the lowest score of the day, shooting a two-under 69. Islay Benoit from Pensacola Catholic carded a one-under 70, and Savannah Goodman from Holmes County shot a 66 to round out the top three individual qualifiers.

Moving on to District 1-2A, the boys’ tournament was held at Perdido Bay Golf Club, while the girls’ tournament took place at Quail Heights Country Club. The West Florida boys’ team dominated the competition, winning the district title with a team score of 317. Bentley Van Pelt from West Florida earned the low medalist honors with a score of 75. The other two teams advancing to regionals are Arnold and South Walton. In the girls’ tournament, Pensacola High secured a third-place finish with a team score of 417, earning them a spot in regionals. Gabrielle Hultstrand from Pensacola High was the low medalist with a score of 76. South Walton claimed the district title, and Fort Walton Beach finished second.

Lastly, in District 1-3A, the boys’ tournament saw a close battle between Jack Wallace from Tate and Braden Duvall from Pace. Wallace came out on top, shooting a two-under 70 to secure the low medalist honors. Pace took home the team title with a score of 288, followed by Gulf Breeze and Tate. In the girls’ tournament, Niceville claimed the district title with a team score of 315. Gulf Breeze finished second, and Tate secured a third-place finish. Gracie Grant from Niceville was the low medalist with a score of 70.
