It’s been a right nightmare at Werneth Low Golf Club lately. Those pesky yobs on electric bikes and scooters have been wreaking havoc on the greens. Ben Thompson, the club’s professional and manager, is at his wit’s end. He says this isn’t the first time they’ve been targeted, but it’s getting worse. The damage caused by these cretins is costing the club thousands of pounds, and to make matters worse, it’s happening during the school holidays. Can you believe it?
Thompson is frustrated that the police won’t do anything unless they have CCTV footage. But let’s be real, who puts CCTV cameras on a golf course? It’s a sad state of affairs when you have to resort to that. The local police, council, mayor, councillor, and trusts are all involved, but catching these vandals seems like an impossible task.
This isn’t the first time the club has been hit. Back in 2021, after the lockdown restrictions were lifted, vandals caused thousands of pounds of damage to the golf club and the nearby country park. It’s a real shame because the club was just starting to recover.
So, let’s spread the word far and wide. Werneth Low Golf Club needs our support. They can’t afford for this to keep happening. It’s time to put an end to these senseless acts of vandalism. If you see anyone on an electric bike or scooter near the club, report it immediately. Together, we can protect our community and keep our greens pristine.
