Exciting New Venue Combining Adventure Golf and Escape Room Awaits Approval

Hey there! So, there’s this awesome new leisure venue that’s a combination of mini-golf, an escape room, and a bar. It’s called The Paint Shop and it’s owned by Christopher Shaw. They opened up a little while ago on Ashby High Street, but they’re still waiting for full licensing approval. Some of the neighbors have raised objections, but let’s hope everything works out for them!

Mr. Shaw is really excited about The Paint Shop. He told the councillors at a recent meeting that it’s going to be a family-friendly place with loads of fun and exciting activities. And the best part? It’s going to create jobs for the local community. How cool is that?

Now, let’s talk about the escape room. Mr. Shaw used to run one in Scunthorpe, and he said that 70% of the bookings were from out of town. So, it’s definitely going to attract people from all over. And don’t worry, they’re going to have strict policies in place. They’ll be checking IDs to make sure no one under 18 gets in after 9.30pm. And they’re not planning on becoming a nightclub or a live music venue. They’ll have live music sometimes, but it’ll be done by 11pm.

Of course, safety is a top priority. The Paint Shop will have CCTV cameras and other security measures to keep things under control. But some of the objectors are concerned about noise and anti-social behavior. One resident mentioned that Ashby High Street is already noisy at night, especially on weekends. They’re worried that people will hang around after their activities and make even more noise. Fair point, right?

One of the councillors, Cllr Mick Grant, had some questions too. He wanted to know how many people would be in the venue and if it would be soundproofed. Unfortunately, he couldn’t formally ask those questions at the meeting, but it’s definitely something to consider.

After the meeting, Cllr Grant mentioned that he thinks The Paint Shop will be good for Ashby High Street. He understands the concerns of the neighbors though, so he sent out letters to make sure everyone knew about the licensing application.

So, what’s next? Well, the licensing committee is going to decide whether to grant the license to The Paint Shop. We’ll find out soon enough. Fingers crossed!
