Hey football fans! After last weekend’s games were cancelled due to Storm Babet, we’re in for an action-packed Saturday in the North Region Junior football league. The McBookie.com Premier League and Championship have a full card of matches scheduled. Let’s take a look at some of the exciting fixtures!
In the Premier League, league leaders Hermes will be facing Stonehaven. Hermes are currently sitting comfortably at the top of the table with a six-point lead. Stonehaven, on the other hand, are seventh in the league, but have played three games less than their opponents. It’s going to be a tough match for both teams, but Hermes will have the home advantage and will be looking to extend their lead.
Lochside Park manager, Steve Watson, is confident about his team’s chances. He said, “We have a good record against Stonehaven, but they are a big physical team and always set up well. However, we’re playing at home, so we’ll be confident.” Watson also mentioned their recent Scottish Cup win against Beith, which has given the team a real boost. They will now face either Hurlford or Tayport in the next round, and although it’s not an easy draw, at least it’s a home tie.
Stonehaven boss, Martyn Rollo, is ready for the challenge. He knows Hermes are a strong side, especially when playing at home. Rollo said, “We’ll be expecting to defend and have less possession, but we have players like Keith Horne and Rob Armstrong back in the squad, so we can hurt them on the break.” He also mentioned that they are missing a few key players, but they are looking forward to the upcoming Scottish Cup match against East End.
In another exciting Premier League fixture, champions Culter will be facing Ellon United at Crombie Park. Culter has a perfect record so far, winning all four of their league matches. Ellon United, with their new manager Marc Reid, will be looking to cause an upset.
In the Championship, Banks o’ Dee JFC, the current leaders, will be facing Longside. It’s a top-of-the-table clash, with Longside trailing five points behind. Banchory St. Ternan, in second place, will be hosting Lossiemouth United at Milton Park. Both teams will be aiming for a victory to close the gap on Banks o’ Dee.
There are plenty of other exciting matches happening across both leagues, so make sure to check them out. It’s going to be a thrilling weekend of North Region Junior football!
All games kick-off at 1.30pm. Don’t miss out!
