Hey folks! Big news in the world of hockey! The Women’s FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifier, which was supposed to happen in China, is now going to be held in India. How cool is that? So, here’s the deal: China’s women’s national team already qualified for the Olympic Games Paris 2024 by winning the Asian Games. And you know what? It wouldn’t have been fair to keep the event in China when their team has already made it to the Olympics. It would have taken away all the excitement and buzz from the fans and media there. So, the Hockey National Associations of China and India got together and decided to move the qualifier to India. And guess what? The International Hockey Federation (FIH) gave it the green light! Woohoo!
Now, let me tell you where exactly this awesome tournament is going to take place. It’s going to be held in Ranchi, Jharkhand, India from 13 to 19 January 2024. Can you imagine the incredible atmosphere and excitement that Indian fans and media will bring to the games? It’s going to be electric!
Oh, and here’s something interesting. There are three other FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers happening too. One in Muscat, Oman for the Men’s category from 15 to 21 January 2024, and another one in Valencia, Spain for both the Women’s and Men’s categories from 13 to 21 January 2024. So, it’s going to be a hockey extravaganza all around the world!
Now, let’s talk about the teams. Six Women’s and six Men’s teams will qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics through these qualifiers. And guess what? Some teams have already secured their spot! Australia, the Netherlands, China (Women), and India (Men) are already in. They will be joining the host country, France. How exciting is that?
But wait, there’s more! The Pan American Games and African Hockey Road to Paris tournament will determine the remaining teams that will directly qualify for the Olympics. Two Women’s and two Men’s teams will make it through these tournaments, and the rest will battle it out in the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers. It’s going to be a nail-biting competition!
So, mark your calendars, folks! The Paris 2024 hockey Olympic tournaments will be happening from 27 July to 9 August next year. It’s going to be a summer of thrilling hockey action!
