Hey there football fans! This weekend, we’ve got an exciting Vanarama National League fixture coming up at the LNER Community Stadium. It’s time to take a closer look at our opponents, FC Halifax Town. These guys have had a pretty solid start to their campaign, sitting comfortably in the top-end of the league table.
Currently in the playoff positions, FC Halifax Town has been on fire with seven wins and six draws from their seventeen league games. That’s a total of 27 points out of a possible 51. Impressive, right?
After their recent 2-1 victory against Hartlepool United, they’re heading up to North Yorkshire with a four-game winning streak in the National League. And guess what? They’ve got the best defensive record in the league, only conceding sixteen goals so far this season. Talk about a solid defense!
Let’s talk about their manager, Chris Millington. He took over as the boss in May 2022, after being the assistant manager to former Halifax manager Pete Whild. In his first season in charge, he led the team to Wembley success, winning the Isuzu FA Trophy. And not only that, he also guided them to an impressive 11th place finish in the National League. Millington has been with FC Halifax Town since 2019 and has a wealth of experience, previously working with Whild at Oldham Athletic.
Now, let’s talk goals. Millenic Alli is the man to watch out for. This 23-year-old striker has become a fan-favorite at Halifax. He’s in his second season with the Shaymen and has already made a name for himself. Last season, he scored nine goals in 33 National League appearances, and this season he’s already netted four goals in thirteen games. Keep an eye on this guy, he knows how to find the back of the net!
Unfortunately, one player we won’t see on the pitch is Luke Summerfield. This 35-year-old central midfielder won’t be playing due to injury. Summerfield has a ton of experience in both the EFL and the National League. He used to play for York City between 2014 and 2016 before moving on to other clubs like Grimsby Town and Macclesfield Town. Since 2020, he’s been an important presence in the Halifax midfield, making nearly 100 appearances for the club.
Now, let’s talk about the head-to-head record between FC Halifax Town and York City. Last season, Halifax completed a league double over the Minstermen. They won 1-0 at The Shay and then went on to win 3-0 at our very own LNER Community Stadium. But hey, that’s all in the past. This weekend, it’s a fresh start and anything can happen!
So, get ready for an action-packed game this weekend as York City takes on FC Halifax Town. It’s going to be a battle of skills, tactics, and determination. Let’s cheer on our boys and hope for a thrilling victory at home!
