Two fishermen had an incredible experience off the coast of Gwynedd when they encountered a pod of dolphins playing a game of ‘jellyfish football’. David Holt and Jim Ozanne were out on their boat near Llanbedr when they were treated to a show by four bottlenose dolphins. The dolphins spent around half an hour circling, ‘bow riding’, and playing with a large barrel jellyfish. David described it as ‘dolphin football’ and said they had never seen anything like it before. The fishermen believe that the absence of other boats and jet skis in the area allowed the dolphins to feel comfortable and put on such a display. It was a truly amazing sight that reminded them of the incredible wildlife that is right on their doorstep.
