Five Youngsters Who Could Steal the Show at the 2027 Rugby World Cup

The 2023 Rugby World Cup just wrapped up, with South Africa clinching their fourth title by defeating New Zealand. But let’s not dwell on the past, because we’re already looking ahead to the next edition in Australia in 2027. Here are five young players who could make a big impact at the tournament.

First up is Sam Prendergast from Ireland. This 20-year-old fly-half made headlines when he kicked a match-winning penalty against England under-20s in 2022. Since then, he’s made his senior debut with Leinster and even helped Ireland reach the final of the World Rugby under-20s championship. With Johnny Sexton retiring, Prendergast is one of the top contenders to fill his shoes.

Next, we have Posolo Tuilagi from France. This giant lock comes from a family of rugby legends, including his father Henry Tuilagi and his uncle Manu Tuilagi. Posolo impressed during the World Rugby under-20s championship, helping France secure their third consecutive title. Weighing in at a hefty 149 kg, he’ll be a force to be reckoned with in 2027.

Moving on to England, we have Henry Arundell. This 24-year-old winger has already made a name for himself with seven tries in just 10 Tests. He caught everyone’s attention with a spectacular length-of-the-field try for London Irish in 2022. Arundell will undoubtedly be a key player for England in the upcoming campaigns.

Now let’s talk about Irakli Aptsiauri from Georgia. This tight-head prop made his international debut at the young age of 20 and has already made a mark in the French league system. He’s set to join Lyon next season and is a strong contender to replace the veteran props in Georgia’s starting lineup.

Last but not least, we have McKay ‘Macca’ Springer from New Zealand. This versatile player can play as a full-back or on the wing. He was the top try-scorer at the World Rugby under-20s championships and made his Super Rugby debut for the Crusaders. With Beauden Barrett nearing the end of his career, Springer could be the next big thing for New Zealand.

These five youngsters have the talent and potential to steal the show at the 2027 Rugby World Cup. Keep an eye out for them!
