The New BMW M 1000 XR: A Beast on Two Wheels

BMW has just unveiled the most powerful trail bike on the market. The XR M Power is like a S 1000 RR on stilts, ready to take on the Multistrada V4 RS.

BMW and Ducati have been locked in a fierce battle to offer the best, most powerful, and most exclusive motorcycles. While the Italians recently unveiled the extraordinary Multistrada V4 RS, a trail bike that inherits the V4 engine from the track-focused Panigale, BMW Motorrad is now offering its own road beast, derived from its sporty S 1000 RR. Introducing the M 1000 XR trail bike, equipped with a four-cylinder engine pushing out 201 hp at 12,750 rpm – that’s 33 hp more than the brand new S 1000 XR unveiled at the same time. After all, an M badge has to be earned!

To propel you into hyperspace, the M 1000 XR boasts 113 Nm of torque at 11,000 rpm, transmitted to a 47-tooth sprocket (instead of 45) and shorter gear ratios in 4th, 5th, and 6th gears, allowing it to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 3 seconds and reach a top speed of over 270 km/h.

In addition to its racing engine, the M 1000 XR offers a host of other improvements compared to the base model S 1000 XR. It features aerodynamics designed for increased downforce, electronically controlled Dynamic Damping Control (DDC) suspension, and M brake calipers biting on twin 320 mm discs at the front. The aerodynamic winglets, although discreet, generate 12 kg of downforce at 220 km/h, ensuring better stability at high speeds.

With a dry weight of 223 kg in standard configuration, the M 1000 XR is not a lightweight motorcycle, but for riders seeking ultimate performance, BMW offers an M Competition package that reduces the weight of the bike by 3 kg thanks to carbon wheels, among other improvements. As for technology, the M 1000 XR is equipped with all the electronic gadgets that BMW can offer. Riding modes adjust the suspension and engine settings, while the Shifter Assist Pro allows for quick clutchless gear shifts. Dynamic Traction Control, ABS Pro, and adjustable steering damper are also included. It even has a pit lane limiter, hill start control, and a braking slide control system.

You may be wondering how much you’ll have to shell out to ride this dream machine. Well, the BMW M 1000 XR starts at 26,990 euros, compared to 20,390 euros for the base model S 1000 XR. But that’s a relatively reasonable price compared to the Ducati Multistrada V4 RS, which is priced at 37,790 euros.

With this new M 1000 XR, BMW seems determined to dominate the high-performance sport bike segment. It’s a motorcycle designed for speed and performance enthusiasts, and it promises to deliver thrills to anyone lucky enough to ride it. Two-wheeler enthusiasts, buckle up your helmets, because this BMW M 1000 XR is about to offer you an unforgettable riding experience.
