Hey there, Bucknell field hockey fans! Get ready for an exciting matchup as our Bucknell Bison take on the American Eagles in the Patriot League semifinals. It’s going to be a showdown between the #4 seed Bucknell and the #1 seed American. The game is scheduled for Thursday, November 2nd at 11 a.m. and will be held at the Jacobs Recreational Complex in Washington, D.C.
Our Bison have had a solid season so far, with an 8-8 overall record and a 3-3 record in Patriot League play. Last Saturday, we celebrated Senior Day with a dominant 5-0 win against Colgate. Kira Leclercq, Lily Neilson, Rachel Apa, and Mia Fields all found the back of the net to secure the victory. Goalkeeper Sarah Althouse has been outstanding, earning her second consecutive clean sheet.
Lily Neilson has been a force to be reckoned with this season. She was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year for the second year in a row, and she leads the team with 13 goals. Kira Leclercq has also been a standout player, ranking fourth in the conference in defensive saves.
Although we went 0-3 against the tournament teams during the regular season, all three games were incredibly close. Our game against Boston U. even went into double overtime! So, don’t count us out just yet. We have what it takes to compete with the best.
The American Eagles have had a strong season as well, with a 9-7 overall record and a perfect 6-0 record in Patriot League play. They have shown their ability to compete against ranked opponents, narrowly losing to #5 Penn State, #9 Maryland, and #14 Liberty. It’s going to be a tough matchup, but we’re ready for the challenge.
Let’s show our support for the Bison as they fight for a spot in the Patriot League championship game. If you can’t make it to the game, you can catch the action on ESPN+. And don’t forget to follow the Bucknell Field Hockey Twitter page for live updates.
