Jessica Pegula pulled off a stunning upset by defeating world number one Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets at the WTA Finals in Cancun, Mexico. The 29-year-old American secured a 6-4, 6-3 victory over the Belarusian, who struggled with 33 unforced errors. Pegula, who has now won her past five matches against top-10 players, expressed her growing confidence in facing the best in the game. On the other hand, Sabalenka found it difficult to adapt to the playing surface and voiced her concerns about the court conditions. Despite the loss, Sabalenka still has a chance to advance from the group. In other matches, Elena Rybakina defeated Maria Sakkari in a thrilling three-set battle, and Wednesday’s Group B matches feature Marketa Vondrousova against Ons Jabeur and Coco Gauff against Iga Swiatek.
