So, back in May 2023, after four long years of recession, a group of locals in Pomonal decided it was time to bring tennis back to their community. And boy, did they do an incredible job!
First things first, they rolled up their sleeves and cleaned up the tennis courts. They wanted to make sure everything was in tip-top shape for the big comeback. And let me tell you, those courts are looking spick and span!
But that’s not all. The club also got with the times and created a digital presence. They set up ClubSpark and Facebook pages to keep everyone in the loop. Now, you can stay updated on all the latest news and events happening at the club. How cool is that?
And let’s not forget about the awesome programs they joined. They signed up for Community Play and Tennis4Tenns, which are all about getting people of all ages and skill levels involved in the game. Talk about inclusivity!
To kick things off with a bang, the club hosted an open day. They brought in a local tennis coach to give some tips and tricks to the eager participants. It was a smashing success! People from all over the community showed up and had a blast.
Now, here’s the really impressive part. The club already has over 100 members! Can you believe it? That’s a lot of tennis enthusiasts. And get this, it’s not just locals who joined. Even visitors to the Grampians region wanted to be a part of the action. Talk about making a name for yourself!
But it doesn’t stop there. The club is on a mission to upgrade the court surface. They’re all about providing the best playing experience for their members. And to make it happen, they’re getting involved in the Masterplan of the Pomonal Recreation Reserve. They’re determined to make their dreams a reality.
I have to give a shoutout to the club for their dedication to growing the sport. They’re all about getting more people, especially the younger ones, interested in tennis. They’ve given out 50 Hot Shots racquets to juniors who want to give tennis a try. How awesome is that? They’re really investing in the future of the sport.
