UMass Field Hockey Aims for Championship, Football Looks to Finish Strong

UMass field hockey is determined to win the Atlantic 10 championship after falling short in the past six tournaments. St. Joseph’s has been the dominant team in the postseason, winning five of the last six titles. However, UMass aims to rewrite history this year. Despite finishing in a three-way tie for second place in conference play, the Minutewomen have a strong defense and are on a hot streak, not allowing a goal in their last three games. They will face VCU in the semifinals. On the other hand, UMass football is looking to end their season on a high note. Coach Don Brown’s passion and determination have been evident, and a win against Merrimack would be a step in the right direction. The offense has improved, and key players like Taisun Phommachanh, Kay’Ron Lynch Adams, and Anthony Simpson have been performing well. A strong finish this year and a potential bowl appearance could push UMass to find a conference for their football team. Overall, there is a lot to be excited about for UMass football, but a loss to Merrimack would dampen the optimism.
