In a recent announcement, the University of Massachusetts hockey team celebrated the achievements of two of their players. Freshman forward Jack Musa and junior defenseman Scott Morrow were recognized as the Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Month and the Hockey East Army ROTC Defender of the Month, respectively. These accolades come after a successful month for the UMass team, with a record of 4-2-1 in October, including impressive victories against ranked opponents.
Musa, a talented player from Orange Park, Florida, led the team in scoring last month with 10 points. He showcased his skills with three goals and seven assists, with all three goals scored on power plays. Musa’s contributions were not limited to scoring, as he also had points in five of the seven games played in October. His standout performances included a five-point weekend against No. 6 Michigan, where he played a crucial role in a third period comeback win for the Minutemen.
Morrow, hailing from Darien, Connecticut, was the second-highest scorer for the team in October, trailing only Musa. He recorded nine points, with two goals and seven assists, both goals coming on power plays. Morrow’s impact was felt in back-to-back multi-point games against tough opponents, No. 6 Michigan and No. 19/20 Minnesota State. He also played a key role in a shutout victory over Minnesota State, helping UMass complete a weekend sweep.
The recognition of Musa and Morrow highlights the impressive talent and depth of the UMass hockey team. Musa’s offensive prowess and ability to contribute on power plays make him a valuable asset, while Morrow’s scoring ability as a defenseman sets him apart. Both players have played a significant role in the team’s success and have helped UMass establish itself as a force to be reckoned with in the Hockey East conference.
Looking ahead, UMass will face Northeastern this Friday, November 3, at 7:30 p.m. The team is eager to continue their winning streak and build on the achievements of Musa and Morrow. With their exceptional skills and determination, these players are sure to make a lasting impact on the ice and contribute to the team’s future success.
