The Indian Junior Men’s Hockey Team is getting ready for the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2023, which will take place from 5th to 16th December in Kuala Lumpur. They are determined to finish on the podium and their recent victory against archrivals Pakistan in the bronze medal match has boosted their confidence. The tournament will feature 16 teams divided into 4 pools. India is placed in Pool C along with Spain, Korea, and Canada. The team will start their campaign against Korea on 5th December, followed by matches against Spain on 7th December and Canada on 9th December. The Indian Junior Men’s Hockey Team qualified for the World Cup after defeating Pakistan in the final of the 2023 Men’s Hockey Junior Asia Cup. They are now using the weeks leading up to the tournament to improve and sharpen their skills. The team has performed well in the recent Sultan of Johor Cup, where they won the bronze medal. The tournament served as good preparation as they faced strong teams like Germany, New Zealand, Malaysia, and Pakistan. The coach, CR Kumar, believes there are areas they can still improve on and they will plan their strategies accordingly based on the performances of other teams. In a show of solidarity, the Indian Men’s Hockey Team has arrived in Ranchi to support the Indian Women’s Hockey Team in the Jharkhand Women’s Asian Champions Trophy. The women’s team is set to face Korea in the semi-finals and the atmosphere is electric with anticipation.
