Italian Women’s Football in Chaos as Team Withdraws from Top-Flight

Italian women’s football has been thrown into chaos as Pomigliano, a top-flight team, has decided to withdraw from the Serie A Femminile league after just six matches. The club’s decision came after a controversial penalty call in their recent 1-0 defeat. Pomigliano claims that they are ‘fighting against invisible opponents’ and are frustrated with the lack of support from the Women’s Football Division of the Italian Football Federation. This unexpected withdrawal has created logistical problems for the rest of the league, as there are now only nine teams remaining in Italy’s top women’s football league.
