BU Men’s Basketball Opens 115th Season Against Northeastern

The Boston University men’s basketball team is set to open its 115th season against crosstown rival Northeastern on Monday night. The game will be broadcasted on NESNplus at 8 p.m. This matchup between BU and Northeastern is one of the most underrated rivalries in the country, with the two teams being tied at 75-75 in their all-time series. The Terriers are entering a new era after the graduation of 10 players, including their top six scorers from last season. Head coach Joe Jones, who has 202 victories at BU, is looking to lead the team to its third postseason berth in five years. Senior guard Miles Brewster, who was named team captain, is expected to play a key role this season. The Terriers also have several newcomers, including junior transfers Ethan Okwuosa and Ben Palacios, as well as four freshmen. On the other side, Northeastern is coming off a 10-20 season and is looking to improve this year. Forward Chris Doherty and guard Joe Pridgen are among the key returning players for the Huskies. The game is expected to be a close one, as 15 of the last 16 meetings between BU and Northeastern have been decided by single digits. After this game, the Terriers will face Big 10 member Rutgers on Friday. They will be aiming for their first Power 5 victory since 2019.
