Providence College goalie Philip Svedebäck, from Växjö, Sweden, has been named the Hockey East Goaltender of the Week. This is the third time Svedebäck has received this recognition in his career. He had an outstanding performance in two games against New Hampshire, stopping 48 of 49 shots. His goals-against average was an impressive 0.48 and he had a save percentage of .980. On Friday, he made 28 saves and stopped all four shootout attempts. Then on Saturday, he had a shutout, saving all 20 shots he faced in a 2-0 victory. The Friars, ranked #5/6, will be playing against Northeastern in a home-and-home series starting on Friday night at Schneider Arena.
