Jordan Wilson scored a brace as Rugby Town ended their nine-game winless run in all competitions with a 3-0 victory at Bedworth United. Wilson struck twice in the space of four minutes before Ryan Sahota added a third goal just past the half-hour mark while Barry Fitzharris saw red late on at The Oval. And the result means Rugby have climbed out of the Northern Premier League Midlands relegation zone, two points clear of Boldmere St Michaels who have a game in-hand. A first-half blitz helped Valley to their first league win since August as Wilson broke the deadlock on 19 minutes with a low finish past former Rugby goalkeeper Sam Lomax. And Wilson doubled the away side’s lead four minutes later, heading in off the underside of the crossbar from Caine Elliott’s free-kick. Valley extended their lead with a third goal in the space of 12 minutes when Sahota rounded the keeper before finishing into an empty net from Silvano Obeng’s through ball. The visitors had chances to stretch their lead in the second half as David Kolodynski headed wide before Obeng had a shot saved after a sublime piece of skill sent him through on goal. And despite losing captain Fitzharris to a red card 10 minutes from time, Valley comfortably saw out the remaining minutes to seal their first win since August and first away victory in the league this season. Rugby are next in action away at Shepshed Dynamo on Saturday, November 11 with kick-off at 3pm at the Dovecote Stadium.
