Celebrating 237 Years of Fundraising for RNLI

A group of Rugby fundraisers just got some major recognition for their hard work, and it’s about time! The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) recently honoured these dedicated folks with long service awards, and it’s a big deal. The awards were handed out by Rugby Mayor Maggie O’Rourke at the Rugby Town Hall, and it was a heartwarming event.

These amazing fundraisers have been at it for a whopping 237 years, raising money for the RNLI. That’s a whole lot of dedication and commitment right there! The RNLI has been recognising long service in chunks of ten years since 2020, and it’s great to see these volunteers getting the recognition they deserve.

Graham Warren, the Chair of the Rugby Branch of the RNLI, shared his thoughts on the incredible milestone. He mentioned that the Rugby fundraising branch has been going strong for about 60 years and currently has nine members. These folks don’t do it for the fame or glory, they do it because they genuinely want to help. But it’s awesome to see the RNLI acknowledging their hard work and dedication.

The medals were given to some truly deserving individuals, including Dorothy Galliford, Peter Warrilow, Sue Haddon, and others who have been the driving force behind the fundraising efforts. It’s not just the committee members who make it happen, but also the amazing support from volunteers like Margaret Warren, Bernard Haddon, and others.
