Last weekend, Lytham St Annes Hockey Club had an eventful time with both their first and second teams showing their skills on the field. The matches were so good that they were even live on Freeview channel 276! The first team had a bit of a rocky start, missing out on some early scoring opportunities and falling behind. But they didn’t let that get them down. They fought back and managed to equalize thanks to Grace Reddy’s impressive play. The rest of the first half saw them creating more chances, but the Kendal keeper was on top form, stopping shots from Frankie Beeby, Jade Yarwood, and Jess Mason. At half-time, the score was 1-1, and Lytham was determined to take control in the second half. Their strategy paid off as Lara Pilling’s forward move led to two goals, supported by great teamwork from Beeby and Mason. And just when you thought it was over, Yarwood sealed the deal with a fantastic reverse hit that left the keeper stunned. The men’s second team also had a fantastic game, winning 6-0 against Lancaster and Morecambe. They started strong with Joe Briggs scoring within five minutes, followed by Michael Robbins netting shortly after. Robbins wasn’t done yet, adding another goal to the tally, and Theo Hauff made it four. The second half saw both teams putting up a good fight, but Lytham’s counter-attack resulted in a fifth goal from Will Butcher. And to top it off, Tom Atkinson’s tap-in secured their sixth goal, along with an impressive clean sheet. It was a weekend of victories for Lytham St Annes Hockey Club, and they definitely showed their opponents what they’re made of!
