Hey guys, check out the latest update on Middle Tennessee men’s tennis! The team has had an awesome fall season, and they’ve been crushing it on the court. Coach Jimmy Borendame is super proud of the team and the progress they’ve made. He’s especially stoked about the upcoming spring season and can’t wait to see how the team performs.
The Blue Raiders kicked off the fall season in Miramar Beach, Fla., where they faced off against some tough competition from Florida State, Georgia State, and Tulane. Karim Al-Amin and Shu Matsuoka showed their skills with two doubles wins, while Igor Mandou Berranger and Kristian Thomas each picked up a singles win. Talk about a strong start!
After that, the team split up to compete at the Alabama Four in the Fall and the ITA All-Americans. The Blue Raiders continued to dominate, with some impressive wins in both doubles and singles matches. Leo Raquin, in particular, had an outstanding performance at the ITA All-Americans, making it to the main draw of the tournament. Way to go, Leo!
Next up was the ITA Regional Championships in Chattanooga, where Al-Amin, Horak, Kamrowski, Raquin, and Taramonlis showed off their skills. Kamrowski and Raquin both had some epic wins, securing their spots at the ITA Fall Nationals. The team also competed at the Vanderbilt Hidden Duals, with Raquin once again proving his talent by going undefeated. What a legend!
And the cherry on top? Raquin qualified for the ITA Fall Nationals in San Diego, where he put up a fierce fight and even earned the ITA Sportsmanship Award. Talk about an impressive run!
Associate Head Coach Andrea Caligiana couldn’t be prouder of the team’s hard work and dedication. With lots of new faces on the team, it was important to establish their culture and values, and the results speak for themselves. The boys have been putting in the work on and off the court, and it’s definitely paying off.
So, what’s next for the Blue Raiders? They’ll be hitting up some tournaments in the coming weeks, and we can’t wait to see them in action. Be sure to follow Middle Tennessee men’s tennis on social media to stay updated on all the latest news and matches. Go Blue Raiders!
