So, there’s this whole drama going on at ONE Championship, and it’s got everyone talking. Basically, the boss banned this gym owner and coach, Mehdi Zatout, for six months after his fighter, Alaverdi Ramazanov, confronted Jonathan Haggerty in the ring. But get this, Zatout is protesting his innocence, saying he didn’t do anything and he’s not responsible for his fighter’s actions. He’s like, ‘I’m not his babysitter, he’s a grown man!’ You can tell he’s pretty upset about the whole thing.
The ban is a big deal for Zatout’s gym, Venum Training Camp, because they’ve got fighters who compete in the weekly ONE Friday Fights and the monthly events on Amazon Prime Video. It’s a real blow for them, you know?
Ramazanov, the fighter who caused all the commotion, tried to challenge Haggerty after he won a kickboxing belt. He was all like, ‘Why are you scared of me?’ and it caused a bit of a scene. Haggerty was not having it, though. He was like, ‘Get this guy out of here!’ and the whole thing turned into a bit of a mess.
Zatout’s fellow fighters are backing him up, saying he had nothing to do with it and it’s unfair to ban him. Even fans are divided on this. Some are like, ‘Yeah, it’s good they’re keeping it professional,’ while others are calling it a ‘stupid rule’ and saying it’s unfair. It’s a real mixed bag of opinions.
What do you think? Should Zatout be banned for something his fighter did? Or is it all just a big misunderstanding? Let me know in the comments!
