LSU’s Quarterback Jayden Daniels is on fire! He totally rocked the game against Florida, leading the Tigers to a 52-35 victory. With this win, LSU’s record is now 7-3 overall and 5-2 in conference play, while Florida falls to 5-5 overall and 3-4 in the SEC. The Tigers are all set to take on Georgia State next Saturday in Death Valley. It’s going to be an epic showdown on the SEC Network at 7 p.m.
Daniels was the star of the show, racking up a whopping 606 yards of total offense in front of a massive crowd of 102,321 fans. He completed 17-of-26 passes for 372 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 234 yards on 12 carries, scoring two touchdowns on the ground. It was a jaw-dropping performance that solidified his position as a top contender for the Heisman trophy.
Coach Brian Kelly was full of praise for Daniels, saying, “If he didn’t win (the Heisman) tonight, then he’s got to be the leading candidate. He did something tonight that nobody has ever done. If that doesn’t make you the leading candidate, then maybe the Heisman isn’t for the best player.”
In the first quarter, Daniels sprinted 85 yards for a touchdown, putting the Tigers in the lead at 17-7. This incredible run was the longest touchdown by an LSU player since 2019. He didn’t stop there, as he later dashed 51 yards for another touchdown, giving LSU a 31-28 lead in the third quarter. This outstanding performance made him the second player in SEC history to achieve 200+ passing and rushing yards in the same game.
Daniels also achieved a remarkable milestone by surpassing 12,000 career passing yards and 3,000 career rushing yards, making him the first NCAA FBS player to achieve both feats in his career.
Coach Kelly also commended senior running backs Josh Williams and Noah Cain for their leadership and contribution to the team. He emphasized the importance of players who do the little things right and praised Williams for scoring his 10th rushing touchdown as a Tiger.
On the receiving end, junior Brian Thomas shone brightly with 150 yards on six catches and two touchdowns, while junior Malik Nabers also made a significant impact with six catches for 132 yards.
Defensively, senior linebacker Omar Speights led the team with 12 tackles, followed by freshman cornerback Javien Toviano with 10 tackles and sophomore linebacker Harold Perkins with eight tackles, a quarterback hurry, and a forced fumble.
This game marked a historic moment for LSU, as it was the most points they have ever scored against Florida in their 70-game series. The Tigers have now secured five consecutive wins and six victories in their last seven meetings with the Gators.
Coach Kelly summed up the game by acknowledging Florida’s strong performance and praising their quarterback, but ultimately declaring that LSU’s quarterback, Jayden Daniels, was simply the best. It was a thrilling game that showcased the exceptional talent and teamwork of the LSU Tigers.
