Thrilling Overtime Victory: Loudoun Valley Claims Class 4 Field Hockey State Title

The field hockey showdown between Loudoun Valley and Gloucester ended with a nail-biting finish, as Loudoun Valley clinched the Class 4 state title in overtime with a 2-1 victory over Gloucester. The game was deadlocked at 1-1 at the end of regular play, leading to an intense overtime period with both teams giving it their all. In a heart-stopping moment, Loudoun Valley’s midfielder Katie Miller scored the game-winning goal in the first overtime period, securing the victory for her team. This was the first appearance for both teams in the Class 4 final, with Gloucester having previously won the Class 5 state title in 2018.

Gloucester’s Abby Junker made an impressive start by scoring the first goal of the game, putting her team in the lead.
