UMass Men’s Hockey Faces Tough Loss Against Vermont

UMass men’s hockey team faced a tough loss against Vermont after a strong start. The team, ranked No. 14, was unable to secure a weekend sweep after a 4-1 victory on Friday. Despite scoring two first-period goals, UMass succumbed to a 6-2 defeat at the Mullins Center. Coach Greg Carvel expressed disappointment, citing an undisciplined penalty as a turning point in the game. He praised the opponents for their performance and emphasized the need for crucial saves. The team suffered injuries to Aaron Bohlinger and Nick VanTassell, but Carvel reassured that the injuries were not severe. UMass struggled to maintain its lead as UVM dominated offensively, with Jeremie Bucheler and Jens Richards leading the charge. The game saw a change in goalkeepers, with Cole Brady replacing Michael Hrabal. Looking ahead, the Minutemen are set to face Providence College in a home-and-home series, with the first game scheduled at Schneider Arena in Providence, Rhode Island.
