remember that BBC Investigates programme into misogyny and discrimination in the Welsh Rugby Union? Well, the Independent Review Panel just dropped its report on all that drama. They found sexism, misogyny, homophobia, and racism, and they’re calling out the whole organisational culture and behaviours in the WRU. You can check out the full report here: [INDEPENDENT REVIEW OF THE WELSH RUGBY UNION](https://gov.wales/independent-review-welsh-rugby-union)
The Welsh Government is pretty chuffed about this report being out in the open. They’re giving props to everyone who had a hand in uncovering the dirt and making recommendations. They reckon this report is gonna shake things up big time in Welsh rugby.
Now, the Welsh Government is gonna dive into the nitty-gritty of the report and have a sit-down with the WRU to chat about the recommendations and their big plans. And get this, the WRU has totally signed off on all the recommendations from the review panel, and they’ve already made some serious headway in a few areas.
But here’s the deal, the WRU needs to get their act together and start building trust with everyone who’s into the game, especially those who’ve been through some unacceptable stuff and had the guts to speak up about it.
The Welsh Government is laying down the law, saying they expect the WRU to create safe spaces for everyone involved in the game, from staff and players to kids and young’uns at every level. They’re aiming high, hoping the WRU can set the standard for fair treatment in sports, not just in Wales but everywhere. Let’s see if they can pull it off!
