Holger Rune’s New Coach: Boris Becker

Holger Rune has just hired Boris Becker as his coach! Yep, you read that right. The Danish player’s team confirmed the news on Thursday. And guess what? Becker, the former No. 1 player, has some serious coaching experience. He’s the man who helped Novak Djokovic reach his greatest heights. As a player, Becker won a whopping 49 tour-level titles and 713 matches, including 121 victories against Top 10 opponents. Rune even posted a team photo with Becker after a recent training session. Looks like they’re getting down to business real quick!

So, what’s the deal with Rune? Well, he’s looking to turn things around for his 2023 season. It started off strong with some impressive performances, but things have been a bit rocky lately. He made it to the ATP Masters 1000 finals in Monte-Carlo and Rome, snagged his fourth tour-level title in Munich, and reached the quarter-finals at Roland Garros and Wimbledon. But here’s the kicker – he’s been struggling since the grass swing, winning just one out of eight matches. Ouch.

But hey, Rune’s not giving up. After a recent loss in Stockholm, he took to Instagram to share his thoughts. “I felt myself and my game more today than I did in a while,” he said. “So I feel confident now in making the last adjustments and finish the year strong 🦾”. Looks like he’s ready to bounce back and finish the year on a high note. Let’s see what this new coach-player duo can achieve!
