So, get this – there’s this Japanese star, Mone Inami, who just won the Toto Japan Classic, right? And guess what? She wasn’t even a member of the LPGA Tour when she won! But now, she’s decided to join the tour for the 2024 season. How cool is that?
Inami was all like, ‘This membership, I earned on my own.’ She had a chat with her team and they were like, ‘Yeah, playing in the U.S. Tour will be huge for your future.’ So, she was like, ‘Alright, let’s do this!’ And her team’s got her back, so she’s giving it a shot.
At first, after winning, she was like, ‘Nah, I’m good, I’ll pass on the membership.’ But then she had a change of heart and decided to go for it. And now, she’s got a one-year exemption for her victory. Plus, she’s gonna be competing in the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in January. How awesome is that?
If she hadn’t accepted the membership, she would’ve been the third Japanese player since 2019 to say no to LPGA membership after a win. But hey, now she’s in, and it’s gonna be exciting to see her out there on the tour. Go Inami!
