Camborne’s ‘Powerful’ Performance Brushes Aside Eagles
In a thrilling match, Camborne secured a well-deserved victory against the Eagles, bringing them within a point of league leaders, Hayle, and claiming the second spot. The Eagles, who have been building a stronger squad in recent weeks, started the game with great energy and determination. Trick, the centre, made impressive runs, supported by Tug at ten, and the team competed without any major setbacks.
However, as the game progressed, the Eagles faced unexpected challenges from the powerful Crusaders forwards, particularly Pattison, who caused significant trouble for the Eagles’ centre pairing of Trick and Pyper. This led to their departure from the field due to injury, highlighting the intensity of the play.
Falmouth managed to score only a penalty through Scott Dunstan in the first half. The absence of the key centres began to take its toll, resulting in the collapse of the Eagles’ threat, allowing Camborne to secure a comfortable 46-3 victory.
The return of the experienced Cam Bullock in the second half brought a positive shift in the Eagles’ performance, with notable contributions from forwards Fearn, Fitzpatrick, Hopkins, Reid, and Charlie Sanders. Bryn Owen’s impressive display further strengthened the team’s attack and defence, showcasing the resilience and determination of the Eagles.
Despite not scoring, Falmouth continued to push for tries until the end, demonstrating their unwavering spirit. Looking ahead, both the Eagles 1XV and 2XV will have a break from league action, while the Eagles Women XV are set to face Kingsbridge Ladies at the recreation ground on Sunday, November 26, with a 14:30 kick-off.
