The Snow College women’s basketball team has been on fire lately, winning four out of their last five games. They just came back from the Eagle Classic Tournament with two big wins. First, they took on Treasure Valley Community College and totally crushed them with a score of 85-46. Then, they faced off against Laramie County Community College and came out on top with a score of 67-48.
In the game against Treasure Valley Community College, the Badgers got off to a great start, scoring the first six points in the first quarter. They battled it out for rebounds and finished the quarter ahead 17-12. The second quarter was even better for the Badgers as they went on an 18-7 run, increasing their lead to 37-19. The Snow College defense limited TVCC to just eight points over the final five minutes of action, and the Badgers took a 42-27 lead into halftime.
After the break, the Badgers continued their dominance with steals and rebounds, winning the third quarter 22-12. In the fourth quarter, they shut down TVCC, allowing only seven points. The Badgers played some outstanding defense and scored 21 points in the final quarter, sealing the victory with a final score of 85-46.
The standout player of the game was Kiriana Hawaikirangi, who had a career game, scoring 14 points and making six steals. Madison Hosino and Ainsley Thurber also had standout performances, with Hosino scoring 16 points and Thurber contributing 15 points and nine rebounds. As a team, the Badgers recorded 21 steals, their highest since November 20, 2021.
The next day, the Badgers faced off against the Golden Eagles. The game started off evenly, but the Badgers went on an 11-2 run and ended the quarter with a 21-10 lead. In the second quarter, both teams had turnovers, but the Badgers capitalized on their offensive opportunities, shooting 58 percent from the field and leading 39-22 at halftime.
After the break, LCCC fought back hard, but the Badgers maintained their lead, entering the fourth quarter with a 26-point advantage. The Badgers continued their momentum and secured a 57-48 victory.
Hosino was a key player in this game, putting up 11 points and shooting 3-6 from 3-point range. Ainsley Thurber also had a standout performance, securing her first double-double of her career with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Looking ahead, the Badgers will be hitting the road once again, traveling to Casper, WY for the Vista Auto Thanksgiving Classic Tournament. They have a rematch against Western Wyoming Community College and will also face Casper College. The Badgers are determined to come out on top and are ready to bring their A-game.
