The Auckland advertising industry recently came together for the first-ever UnLtd Open golf tournament, and it was a swingin’ good time! Over 100 people from the adland community gathered on 16 November to tee off, drive, and putt for a great cause. The event, sponsored by oOh! Media and Warner Bros. Discovery, aimed to raise funds for UnLtd’s charitable programs supporting at-risk young Kiwis.
Set against the stunning backdrop of the Wainui Golf Course, the tournament was filled with surprises at every hole. From ice-cream, drinks, and music to a WBD putting competition and the opportunity to have a pro-golfer take your swing at the oOh! Media hole in exchange for a donation, there was no shortage of excitement.
Nick Vile, GM of oOh! Media NZ, expressed his excitement about sponsoring the event, highlighting the industry’s passion for supporting UnLtd and its programs. He emphasized that there’s no better way to do it than by hitting the greens with industry colleagues, enjoying a great golf course, and soaking up the gorgeous sunshine.
The MediaWorks team clinched the top spot, with Voices of Hope and Pitchblack/Reel Factory securing the silver and bronze positions. Additionally, the golfers had the opportunity to learn about the impactful work of Voices of Hope, one of UnLtd’s charity partners, in providing a safe space for young people dealing with mental health challenges.
Stephen Old, senior manager at Warner Bros. Discovery, described the day as fantastic, emphasizing the joy of connecting with industry peers over a beloved sport while supporting UnLtd and its charity partners. He also highlighted the positive impact the industry can have and expressed pride in being part of such a meaningful event.
The competition, played in Ambrose style, welcomed golfers of all levels, with 17 teams from the industry participating. Brendan Muller, GM of UnLtd New Zealand, congratulated MediaWorks for their victory and extended gratitude to the sponsors and hole sponsors for making the day possible and incredibly enjoyable. He also emphasized the significant difference the funds raised will make for at-risk young Kiwis.
Looking ahead, the UnLtd 2024 Event Program will commence on 29 February with the annual Big Clash Cricket competition. For those interested in getting involved in various events such as cricket, golf, dodgeball, and more, they can reach out to Brendan at [email protected].
