BYU Women’s Tennis is all set for an action-packed spring schedule in 2024, and it’s going to be a wild ride! With 22 matches lined up over four months, including a 13-game Big 12 Conference lineup, this season is going to be one for the books. The excitement kicks off on Jan. 4 in Hawaii, and we can’t wait for the home opener on Feb. 10 against Weber State. Plus, mark your calendars for the annual Blue vs. White match on Jan. 26-27—it’s going to be epic! Coach Holly Hasler is pumped for this new adventure and is ready to take on the challenge. She’s been working hard to make sure the team plays against the best, and now it’s finally happening.
Here’s the lowdown on the schedule:
1. First Big 12 Season: It’s the Cougars’ first time in the Big 12 Conference, and they’re diving in headfirst. The competition is fierce, with two of the last three national championships in women’s tennis belonging to Big 12 teams (Texas in 2021 and 2022). The Cougars will go up against each Big 12 school once, starting with UCF in Orlando on Feb. 29. And don’t miss the first home conference match on March 7 against Kansas State. The season finale on April 13 against West Virginia is going to be one for the books!
2. Future Conference Mates: The Cougars are getting a taste of what’s to come by facing two future Big 12 members in 2024. First up is a match at Arizona for the Hidden Dual on Jan. 18, followed by a showdown with in-state rival Utah on Feb. 9. It’s going to be a showdown you won’t want to miss!
3. In-State Foes: The home opener against Weber State is just the beginning. The Cougars are also heading to Cache Valley for a matchup against Utah State on Feb. 2. Last year, the Cougars dominated both Weber State (7-0) and Utah State (7-0), and they’re ready to do it again. Plus, after a victory over the No. 44 ranked Utes (4-0) in Provo, BYU is gearing up to face Utah once more in 2024.
4. Home Court Advantage: With a strong 31-11 home record over the past five years, BYU is ready to defend their turf. The 2024 schedule includes eight home matches, giving the Cougars plenty of chances to show their strength. And with six Big 12 Conference teams coming to town, it’s going to be an unforgettable season!
