Faraday Road Welcomes Football Back with a Bang

Football has made a comeback to Faraday Road after a long five years since Newbury FC got kicked out of their old home. The grand re-opening of the football ground happened on Sunday morning, and it was a big deal! Local big shots, players, and reps from both Newbury FC and Newbury Women FC were there to witness the event. The opening ceremony started at 11.30am with some welcoming speeches from Lee Dillon, the head honcho of West Berkshire Council, and Lee McDougall from Newbury Community Football Group. Mr Dillon said, “Faraday Road is like the heart of football in the district. We were determined to bring this community facility back to life, and it’s awesome to see all the hard work of everyone involved finally paying off.” Then, at noon, the under-8 teams from two Newbury clubs – AFC Newbury Boys and Girls FC – went head to head with CSA 07 FC in the first matches at the Faraday Road site in over half a decade. And guess what? There was a penalty shoot-out too, where regular folks got to show off their shooting skills against the Newbury FC goalkeepers.
